BACKGROUND - We present in this video the key technical steps of the animal and of the first in man implantation of a monoleaflet transcatheter monochamber bioprosthesis .
METHODS - The film shows the structure of the prosthesis, conceived with a D shape and with a system of capture of the native anterior mitral leaflet in order to minimize the risk of the LVOT obstruction. Transapical trajectory management, device introduction, opening steps and final delivery are shown.RESULTS -. The procedure was successful in terms of technical feasibility and simplicity of device handling. Immediate post operative 2D and 3D images are shown, providing encouraging results and interesting cardiac perspectives also on the hemodynamic point of view.CONCLUSIONS - This is, at our knowledge, the first monoleaflet bioprosthesis ever implanted in the human. Further implantations are necessary to confirm this initial results.
