Background: Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has proven to be a valuable alternative to conventional surgical aortic valve replacement in patients who suffer from severe symptomatic aortic stenosis. Paravalvular leak (PVL), conduction disorders, and vascular complications still remain relevant procedure-related complications. The aim of this study was to compare in-hospital and procedural outcomes of implantation Acurate Neo valve and Acurate Neo 2 valve.
Methods: Retrospective study. Data collected from single center TAVI registry, from one of the European countries. The analysis included 247 patients treated with transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve implantation in years 2014-2021. 147 patients were treated using Acurate Neo valve and 100 using were treated using Acurate Neo 2 valve. We analysed and compared this two groups on the incidence of death, stroke, myocardial infarction, new pacemaker implantation, major vascular complications and paravalvular regurgitation. We use unified criteria developed by the Valve Academic Research Consortium (VARC-2) for endpoint assessment and reporting in TAVI trials.
Results: There were no significant difference between the groups when we compared mortality, stroke, myocardial infarction, new pacemaker implantation, major vascular complications. Acurate Neo 2 valve compared to Acurate Neo valve offers significant lower incidence of postdilatation and low rate of paravalvular leakage.
Conclusions: Acurate Neo 2 valve compared to Acurate Neo valve offers significant lower incidence of postdilatation and low rate of paravalvular leakage. There were no significant difference between the groups when we compared mortality, stroke, myocardial infarction, new pacemaker implantation, major vascular complications.
