Surgical approach for huge thorax cavernous hemangioma.
Background: Cavernous hemangiomas are among the least common benign wall masses. The aim of this study is to present a case of a 12 year old girl with giant cavernous hemangioma arising left axillary area. Case report: A 12 year old girl, was referred to a pediatric and pulmonologist after her chest radiograph showed, in the upper field of the left thorax wall located tumor (13 cm long and 3,5 cm deep) connecting with pleura. The skin above change was not discolored. Contrast-enhanced CT showed a cavernous hemangioma (16 cm long and 12 cm wide) located mostly in the left axillary area. The main vascular supply of hemangioma came from a direct branch of the left axillary artery and a branch of the left internal thoracic artery.
Conclusion: this report illustrates a rare case of huge cavernous hemnagioma and the treatment challenges it poses.
